Mountain Festival 2024: A Successful Event for Environment Awareness and Community Engagement
From May 4th, 2024, to May 5th, 2024, vKirirom Pine Resort hosted an event called “Mountain Festival,” supported by the Ministry of Tourism, KIT Management and vKirirom Pine Resort, Kampong Speu Governor, the Ministry of Environment, Tourism of Kampong Speu, Coconut School, the private sector, and other stakeholders, including tourists from Phnom Penh and local communities. The purpose of this event is to provide unique activities and experiences that allow them to immerse themselves in the nature of their surroundings. One of the objectives is to support local communities. Another aspect is the opportunity to connect people from diverse backgrounds. The promotion of ecotourism goes hand in hand with conservation efforts to protect the environment and maintain the sustainability of the site. Promoting hygiene, cleanliness, green growth, and service quality.
The event happened because it was well organized by vKirirom Pine Resort, led by Ms. Say Nimol, and the most important participants were H.E. Kuch Panha, Secretary of State, Ministry of Tourism; H.E. Heng Vuthy, Senior Advisor, KIT Management; Mr. Bekku Kenzaburo, COO of KIT Management & vKirirom Pine Resort; H.E. Kao Sonarith, Deputy Governor of Kampong Speu Province; H.E. Kao Sonarith, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment; and Mr. Ouk Vanday, the founder of Coconut School. Their presence served as a testament to the importance of the festival and its mission. The Mountain Festival activities are aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community engagement, such as the environmental clean-up activities, in which participants clean up the surrounding areas of the resort. As part of the festival, there were tree-planting initiatives where attendees had the opportunity to contribute to reforestation efforts. Therefore, the local community members had the chance to display and promote their products during the event. Festival participants were offered trips to Chambok communities that allowed them to appreciate the natural beauty and learn about sustainable tourism. Last but not least, the event concluded with a Gala Dinner party with live music by an acoustic, classic band that provided an enjoyable and entertaining atmosphere for attendees to relax and chill.
The Mountain Festival at vKirirom Pine Resort was a resounding success, bringing together people from all walks of life in a shared commitment to environmental conservation and community building. Through activities such as environmental clean-ups, tree planting, cultural exchanges, and the Gala Dinner, participants not only celebrated the beauty of nature but also recognized the collective responsibility to protect it for future generations.
